I don't even eat sushi but these are sooo tempting!  The request was made from a friend planning a surprise party for her sister who just purchased a NYC apartment, a huge milestone.  At first, I suggested making subway cupcakes or I heart NY cupcakes but she thought of this, googled the idea and before you knew it, I was on a mission to buy white sprinkles for the "rice."  The images on google are an excellent source for inspiration and tutorials.  I always go to other blogs when my brain needs some help.  These were inspired by beauties I found and knew I could pull off with only a couple of days notice and think it's going to be a hit.  Also made some "wasabi" that will be served alongside of chopsticks and other clever decor.

Sushi anyone?

The request for these "sushi" cupcakes were inspired by other sushi cupcakes viewed online and SOOO much fun to make!!

A Sundae for Anyday!

My grandmother loves ice cream, has it almost every single night and wanted to give the staff at the nursing home a treat for always looking out for her.  These are vanilla cake and I made the ice cream and fudge and cherries from homemade fondant.  The stem is green floral wire and obviously non-edible.  I always pride myself in creating cupcakes that are completely edible.  No one wants to bite into a toothpick or some supportive piece of cardboard but I just couldn't think of another option.  Not really very happy with the look of the fondant, there's no shine or texture (maybe add colorful jimmies next time) that could perhaps make these appealing.  I post everything I bake so here you go....this is a work in progress and will give it another go with royal icing next time.  Till then, I think the staff will feel young at heart, the way you do when you have a sundae on an ordinary day!

Never enough Love

Love tastes GOOD

Valentine's Day is a hallmark holiday yes but cupcakes, not so much but just wait till I get my cupcake truck rolling, individual cupcakes will sell for sure! These were made with a lot of love, pink themed and pretty.   It was a late night and I snapped a picture just after cleaning up...sorry it's so dark but they well on their way to a regular customer in Brooklyn before the sun came up.

Practice! Practice! Practice!

These chocolate babycakes are for a rehearsal dinner for a wedding occuring on Valentine's Day Weekend.  How romantic to have each and every guest recieve a different message!  These were alot of fun to create.  Congratulations Derek & Ali!

I've been Transformed!!

If you'd asked me who bumblebee or optimus transformers were a couple of weeks ago, I had no clue....Well, I still don't really know but I know their colors at least.  A very good friend of mine has three kids, two of them have birthdays one day apart!  She asked me to bake a batch of cupcakes that would please them both but distinguish one from another for their seperate little celebrations with friends.  All vanilla babycakes, all vanilla frosting and very edible transformers.

Branding Power!!

These Poly Scientific logo cupcakes are for a great friend, Olimpia.  Her company is hosting a luncheon for her department and what moral this should bring!  I've seen many logo cupcakes online but always wonder if they are completely edible.  These babycakes are.  I drew the logo on edible paper (very remeniscent of a commuinion wafer) with my handy edible ink.  The wafer is tasteless so will go well with any flavors.  I hope this is the first of many and loved logo experimenting.  Go Poly!!
