One Love

Our good friend Anne found her soul mate Jaimie when she wasn't even looking. It's true, it does happen like that for some! We are so delighted to witness and celebrate their special day. Today they are getting married and hosting a wedding at Housing Works in NYC. Their design was super simple. They asked that I match their blue invites with a simple flat flower on top of a white icing swirl. I matched the photo they emailed me. I'm not used to baking in large bulk orders so I spent the majority of the last couple of days working on these flowers and baking and the whole time I was thinking of them, smiling to myself. One Love for Life. To see more of Jaimie & Anne's special day, check out this link. You'll also see the cupcakes looking oh so beautiful, just like the brides! http://www.kathempel.com/blog/2012/07/23/jamie-and-anne-marry-in-new-york/

Henry's First Birthday!

Lil Henry is already ONE! His grandmother, Debra hired me to make cupcakes for the baby shower and I couldn't believe when she contacted me again to make cupcakes for his FIRST Birthday. What a lucky little boy to have such a loving grandmother. She even emailed me pictures of him, so very proud! His theme was called Preppy Boy and so adorable...whales, anchors and octopus! I used the wafer paper over fondant and it matched everything from the napkins to the plates and signs. Debra has many milestones to celebrate with her little grandson Henry. Happy FIRST Birthday Henry, I hope your guests were eager to eat up those cupcakes with you!

Daisy Troop 3633 Rocks!

Daisy Troop 3633 of Levittown, NY is having their "End of the Year" celebration tonight at Cool Crafts. I made these vanilla, chocolate chip cupcakes with the familiar symbols I think of when I think Girl Scouts or Daisies. My daughter Lindsey joined the group late in the year and it's been my only regret. She looks forward to every meeting. The group of girls and leaders are all fantastic and we all get along so great. It's really a great group and I know that most of them will see each other during the summer break. I hope they all enjoy these cupcakes as much as I enjoyed making them!

Saying Thank You matters

My parents recently found themselves in the midst of a confusing and hard situation and sought help and got it. The person that helped them went beyond the call of duty and deserved more than a mere "Thanks." I wish you could smell these lemony cupcakes adorned with Thank You in various languages. They look and smell so good!!!

Edibles for Emma

Our kids' tutor/sitter, Emma, recently got a job at Vineyard Vines. She was really happy and looking forward to the employee discount. I had never heard of Vineyard Vines and assumed it was a wine supplier! I was relieved it is a clothing and merchandise store. LOL Emma is having some co-workers for a get together and asked me to make these vanilla minis with Vineyard Vines in mind. The logo is this hot pink adorable whale! I think her friends will love the thought she put into what she's serving!

Happy 10th Birthday Olivia!

My great friend Suzanne ordered these cupcakes for her oldest daughter, Olivia. Olivia is celebrating her 10th Birthday at her school and wanted purple peace signs as her theme. It just so happens that her celebration lands on Flag Day. We thought it would be cute to "surprise" the kids with the red, white and blue colored cake inside but as you can clearly see, it shows through the liner. Ah well, no big surprise there but still will be exciting as both special events are wrapped up in one! The color in my photos are fooling you! The peace signs and icing are all alternate white and PURPLE. They totally look gray. The sprinkles look blue in the pictures but they are purple as well. The colored layers that show through the liner also looks way off, it is a hot pink (tried for red), white and blue, the red is more of a blush.....(This picture looks like it's layered orange, yellow and green????)I don't think they'll care though! I love Suzanne and her family. I hope they all enjoy these cupcakes. Happy Birthday Olivia, you are growing more and more beautiful every time I see you!

Aloha Ale!

Kara, Ale's Mom, called me and asked for Luau themed cupcakes. I had made these only once before, inspired by Bakerella, and was not sure if I had any of the Aloha banners left. As you can see, I did! I hope the kids all enjoy celebrating Ale's 5th Birthday Luau Tea Party Hawaiin style!

Out of this World !

My great friend Eliana is hosting a "mini prom" for her son and his classmates at her home in Long Island City, NY. Her recent post on Facebook says it all: 'To all the 6th grade Garden School kids moving onto the UPPER DIVISION. You are about to embark on a more challenging academic orbit with eons of personal growth. Preparing for your festivities tomorrow has been a lot of fun. The moms hope you guys enjoy your "Solar System" themed mini prom tomorrow! Your are loved more than all the stars in all the galaxies!' These cupcakes were just one of the many detailed party ideas. There are beautiful paper lanters aka planets suspended over white lit trees and stars everywhere! It took me a couple of nights to make all the toppers and all morning to bake but it's always my pleasure. Eliana is a phenomenal Mom and has ordered cupcakes from me before. She always makes me feel like she truly appreciates my work. Thank you for being such a great friend to me!

Last day of School = Summer's Here!

School's out? That means it's officially summer for those kids no matter what the calendar says! My friend, Olimpia contacted me and requested a summer theme for her son's last day at his preschool. It was a lot of fun thinking of summer's must haves like watermelon, sand castles, beach balls, kites, and my personal favorite, ice pops. The ice pops were totally inspired from Lynlee, (Petite Cakes) once again! I hope that all the kids in Mathew's class enjoy these cupcakes !!

Gina's on her toes!

Aren't these adorable? My friend, Janet, asked me to make cupcakes for her daughter Gina's dance recital. Gina takes both Hip Hop and Ballet classes and happens to love zebra prints. I tried to incorporate everything to work well together and even had the dance poses printed on the wafer paper. Everything is edible! I hope that Gina and her family enjoy their full day of celebrating that starts at Calda (everyone's favorite local Italian eats) and ends at her home after the dance recital for cupcakes!

Nurse On Duty!

These chocolate cupcakes are "on call" for my friend Johanna's family who are celebrating a graduation from Nursing School. I've made cupcakes for docs and vets but first time for a nurse. I decided to include the trademark nurse's cap, a scrub top with a big ole heart (cause you know that's what it's all about!), a blood pressure cup and made the stethoscopes a girlie pink! It was so good to see Johanna & meet her sweet daughter when I made the delivery. Johanna doesn't live in NY anymore but found a great reason to order cupcakes from me! I wish she was local!!
