40 and Fabulous!

My friend Janet turned 40 and her celebration was fierce! Janet is the kind of girl who puts a lot of thought into every detail. She contacted me well in advance for this order but I was only able to make the fondant toppers since my kitchen was under renovation and I was unable to bake for her. Most people order my cupcakes BECAUSE of the toppers and she was very precise with each design and her colors. These cupcake toppers were made for her to treat her friends who were taking her away to celebrate her milestone birthday for overnight pampering at a spa! Here are the happy bunch with their matching pjs and sleeping masks!

Invited to a neighbor's house later today for a Halloween party and tomorrow in Centerport for pumpkin carving with my "sista" and family & friends. It's probably my last cupcake bake in my old kitchen. Nothing scary about that!

Quinn Made a Rainy Day Sky Fill with Rainbows!

Welcome to the world Baby Quinn! Your Mom and Dad have been patiently awaiting your arrival. You are healthy and beautiful and already very loved. They are new to this whole parenting thing, so go easy on them. Can't wait to meet you!

Emma's Big Day

Cathie asked for these cupcakes so long ago and I am glad to deliver these sweet treats for her daughter Emma. The request was her name, an iphone and the word Dancing. The batter is tye dye, which has suddenly become very popular again! I hope that these cupcakes make her day even more special. Emma got her braces off today and I bet she'll be smiling before these even get to her!

Gavin's Wrestling Ring Cupcake cake!

My friend Colleen has her hands full in October with her kids' birthdays being back to back. Gavin wanted a cupcake cake for his 8th Birthday Party with his friends. Colleen emailed me a couple of pictures of the wrestling ring Gavin wanted. I was so excited as this is a first time for a wrestling theme in my experience! The logo is made of fondant and white chocolate. The chocolate cupcakes were baked so perfectly consistent in size, I was actually in awe of how pretty they looked absolutely plain and then I had to coat them with lots of icing. I baked four too many for this ring so I made sure to swirl red icing on those and give to Colleen separately. The poles were an issue since the fondant was not cooperative staying upright and the string I used as "rope" would sink into them. I asked Colleen is would be all right to dip pretzel rods into dark chocolate and she was so excited. Not only were the "poles" now upright but consistent in size and oh so yummy to indulge as I had made plenty of them in the process. The string was the only challenge as it was not easy to keep it all snug. In the end, I love the outcome and so did Gavin. Another successful cupcake event with Colleen. Thank you for being so loyal and excited with me!! Happy 8th Birthday!!

Oh Campbell, you are Mmm Mmm Good!

Little Miss Campbell turns TWO years old today! She will be celebrating with her beautiful family and friends. I had the pleasure of spending a little time with her and she is a sweet active little girl with a big smile and all the girlie characteristics one envisions when told they are having a girl. She is snuggly, and has a sweet soft voice and when she's playful, she likes to be theatrical. LOL I know how much joy she brings her grandmother, my good friend Sissy. I know her twos will be far from terrible because she is pure joy!

"K" is for Kayla!

My friend Colleen has a busy month in October as her kids' birthdays are literally back to back. Kayla is up first and she requested RAINBOW battered cupcakes. I hope you can see the bright beauties through the cupcake liner. They are colorful and a surprise with each bite. The toppers are alternate white chocolate initials and lavender fondant ribbons and little white sprinkles. All custom designed by Kayla herself! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLA!

Up Up and Away!

The celebration for Cathie's girls continue with the cupcakes shared at school. All vanilla cupcakes with orange and pink icing and homemade balloon banners. Happy Birthday!! Banners are a great alternative for adding a special touch especially in school districts with restrictions. In Cathie's school district, no fondant is permitted.

Oktoberfest 2014!

My good friend Emma and her family are having an Oktoberfest celebration. Oktoberfest originated in Munich, Germany. A 16 day feast of sausages, pretzels and of course, beer. Emma requested Oktoberfest themed cupcakes and I was so excited as soon as I found this gorgeous design online. Credit to Craftsy. Laced up your dirndl dress and grab a stein! The original design had a foamy beer mug that I just couldn't nail down so I went with just the pretty cultured braids and dress and pretzels. Emma was delighted when she saw the pretzels as the party includes a pretzel bar! Oh the fun parties my cupcakes get to attend! Danke shen Emma for having faith in me.

Chasing Chase!

Making Chase's cupcakes wouldn't be easy only because he loves so many things about NASCAR racing, the drivers, the logos, the tires, the numbers, the jumpsuits, you name it, the list goes on and on....This year, his party was a go kart birthday party and it was really an exciting thrill for the guests AND their parents. Everyone who was invited attended and no one complained about the distance or how early the party was set for. It was so refreshing to host something so different. The racing was so exhilarating and really got everyone's adrenalin pumping. The indoor track really looked like something out of Chase's dream place. He was smiling from ear to ear the whole time. My son is so obsessed with NASCAR, really any kind of racing and transportation. He was so happy to have this kind of experience with all the people he cares about!

Cierra's 14th Birthday!

My friend Sean from high school contacted me and requested volleyball themed red velvet cupcakes for his daughter's birthday. Cierra who is turning 14 is on her high school team and participating in a volleyball tournament (that can potentially last all day) on her birthday. Sean is a great Dad. He is a foodie with a big garden and always cooks and bakes for his family. He has made Barbie doll cakes and I remember a toy soldier cake and last year made his son a huge steak (as requested) on his birthday. This week Sean went back to work after some time off for his knee to heal. It's been a rough week back and he wanted Cierra to have something special at the tournament to share with her teammates. I was glad to get to see him on the delivery but really happy to "serve up" these cupcakes for such a great girl!

Surprise Scott is 60!

Lindsay (aka solo cup) is such a sweet repeat customer. She is also a wonderful daughter to request custom cupcakes with some personal and humorous cupcakes for her Dad, Scott's very special evening with his friends and family to celebrate his 60th birthday. The cupcakes tell us a little bit about Scott. He is infamous for his head of hair and for drinking coffee. His family and friends would recognize these staple symbols right away. Lindsay went all out in planning this big night, it was all going to be a surprise to her Dad. She was buzzing with excitement when she came to pick these 5 dozen cupcakes up from me. She used my displays. Here is a picture she took! Happy 60th Birthday Scott!

Ahoy Mates! It's Luke's Birthday!

Luke is such a sweet boy who also happens to be my son's buddy. His Mom, Donna, is the kind of person that is constantly thinking of ways to make her little ones happy. She is an awesome Mom and also happens to be my friend too! Donna asks for Jake and the Neverland pirates to be the cupcake theme for Luke's birthday party celebration. It was a first for me and I negotiated a bit since characters are challenging for me. She wanted individual favors so the girls got the pink skulls and the boys got the black ones. Luke got Jake and his little sister got the female pirate. Why is this one of my favorite families? Because they ARHHHHHHH!

Frozen Cupcakes for Charlotte!

Deihdra lives in New Jersey but has ordered Babycakes regardless of the distance, thanks to her sister Laura who delivers them to her directly for me. Deihdra's daughter Charlotte is celebrating a birthday and her theme is Frozen, a recent Disney favorite. I was nervous for many reasons, the summer heat and the distance and the fact that I never attempted to make Anna or Elsa character cupcakes before. Deihdra had plenty of faith in me and so here is the outcome. Thanks to thecakingirl.com for the design, I was able to "copycat" her vision. Because character cupcakes are so time consuming and difficult for me, I did the majority in snowflakes which Deihdra agreed to so I thank her very much! Laura & her family made the long trip to celebrate with Charlotte and I hope it all came together. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLOTTE!!

Logan Loves Minions!

Amanda has two beautiful kids. When she requested Minion (Despicable Me) cupcakes for her son Logan's birthday party, it was my pleasure. Amanda wanted individually boxed favors to hand out to guests as well as cupcakes to serve. When I delivered the cupcakes, I wish I had my camera with me. Logan was dressed in a minion shirt that melted my heart. Adorable boy! I posted this after hearing a wonderful review so I can safely say the cupcakes were a hit! Happy Birthday Logan and thank you to Amanda for your kindness.

Ahoy! Naughty Sailor Cupcakes!

I loved this theme because the majority of the work I do is G Rated. I get very excited making something out of the box. Tracy (a friend of a friend) contacted me for cupcakes for her friend Heather who is having her bachelorette party in Fire Island, NY. The theme is "Naughty Sailor" and I was kind of stumped. She told me that she wanted a nautical theme with some "naughtiness." SHe gave me the green light to be "raunchy" but I only made one.....see below. So happy these cupcakes are headed to my favorite island of all time, Fire Island, NY! These girls are going to indulge in these custom cupcakes to celebrate Heather!

Pretty Paisley!

My "sudo" cousin Emily ordered cupcakes for her girlfriend's 30th birthday celebration. She asked for a paisley design and she selected the one she liked best from a variety I found online. It's really nice to get to do something more "grown up" every now and then. Design credit goes to cakesbloomsandblings.uk.com I hope her friend enjoyed the cupcakes!!
